Apple’s App Store is currently experiencing a plague of fart applications. Last week, I detailed one day in which at least 14 new fart apps were accepted into the store. And now, just in a quick search, it looks like there are about 50 apps all dedicated to making fart noises on your iPhone or iPod touch. Classy, I know, but why are there so many?

If the new iPhone app Agile Lie Detector really works, and I’m fairly convinced it does on some level, do you really want to have something this potentially powerful in your pocket? There have been a lot of good games released for the iPhone and iPod touch since the the App Store launched this past July. And now, with more experienced developers like EA, that have plenty of money to throw at game development, coming to the platform, they’re getting even better. Tonight, one company that’s had some success with an iPhone-only gaming approach, Ngmoco, rolled out its newest game — the first one it thinks enough of to price at $9.99: Rolando.

iPhone 3G Metal Gear Solid

The rumour looked pretty solid, but confirmation is always swell. The next Metal Gear game will indeed be on the iPhone, and it’s called Metal Gear Solid Touch.

What’s more, courtesy of Konami we now have some details on the game. It’s an original title set in the MGS4 universe, and consists of 8 stages (with the promise of more to be made available later). It’s obviously controlled via the touchpad (as opposed to the accelerometer), with a sniping screenshot looking a lot like the iPhone’s zoom-in text editing setup.

MGS obsessives will be well catered for, with bonus points accrued through gameplay able to be traded in to unlock stuff like Metal Gear iPhone wallpapers.

It’s due for a worldwide release in Spring 2009.

Word on the streets is that Zodttd are nearing completion of Quake for the iPhone / Iphone 3g.

Though it may not be feasible to get Quake in the official App Store, Zodttd are promising some quality Apps that will.
